Why an earlier beta result is not enough

Some players ran earlier Alpha or Beta builds on Linux. In its update, BULKHEAD acknowledges those results and a mistake in community communication, while maintaining that official compatibility has not been confirmed. A report that one build launched successfully cannot tell you whether your current build will authenticate, join a server, or keep working after an update. For a Linux purchase decision, use the developer's compatibility statement instead of treating an old gameplay clip as a guarantee.

If Linux is your only gaming system

Wait for BULKHEAD to confirm compatibility before buying on the assumption that Proton will work. The studio specifically asks players who bought expecting Linux access on September 10 to refund rather than rely on that expectation. The statement provides no approved Proton version, launch-option recipe, or workaround. Changing compatibility settings cannot establish official support, and bypassing anti-cheat is not an appropriate way to test access.

Steam Deck needs the same careful reading

A Steam Deck running SteamOS falls under this Linux compatibility question. Running the game in an earlier test would not establish support for the launch build.
